Privacy Policy

1. Who we are

PersAura is a personality-based matching app. When this policy says "we", "us", or "our", it refers to PersAura. You can contact us at hello@persaura.com. We act as the data controller for all personal data collected through PersAura.

2. What data we collect

We collect only what is necessary to operate the service:

  • Account info — your name, email address, and profile picture, provided when you create an account or sign in with Google.
  • Profile info — age, gender, city, and MBTI type that you optionally provide.
  • Quiz answers — your responses to personality quizzes and the resulting personality labels and scores.
  • Usage data — anonymous page view data to understand how the app is used (via Vercel Analytics). This is not linked to your identity.
  • Payment data — if you make a purchase, Stripe processes the transaction. We never see or store your card details.

3. Legal basis for processing (GDPR)

We process your personal data on the following legal bases:

  • Contract — processing your account information and quiz results is necessary to provide the matching service you signed up for.
  • Consent — when you explicitly agree to our Terms and Privacy Policy at signup, you consent to us using your quiz answers to generate personality profiles and match you with other users.
  • Legitimate interests — we use aggregated, anonymised data to improve our product. This does not involve identifying individual users.
  • Legal obligation — we may process data to comply with applicable laws.

4. How we use your data

  • To create and manage your account
  • To match you with compatible users based on quiz results
  • To display your personality results and archetypes to matched users
  • To process payments for unlocked features
  • To improve quiz content and matching algorithms using anonymised, aggregated responses
  • To understand how the app is used via anonymous analytics

We do not sell your data. We do not use it for advertising.

5. How we use your quiz answers

By submitting quiz answers, you acknowledge and agree that:

  • Your personality labels, archetypes, and compatibility scores may be shown to other users as part of the matching experience
  • Your anonymised answers may be used in aggregate to improve PersAura's quiz content and matching quality
  • Personality results, compatibility scores, and archetypes are for entertainment purposes only. They are not scientifically validated and do not constitute any form of psychological, medical, or professional assessment.

6. International data transfers

PersAura uses third-party services that may process your data outside the European Economic Area (EEA):

  • Supabase — database and authentication. EU region selected. Privacy policy
  • Vercel — hosting and analytics (US-based). Transfers covered by Standard Contractual Clauses. Privacy policy
  • Stripe — payment processing (US-based). Certified under applicable data transfer frameworks. Privacy policy
  • Google — sign-in via OAuth (US-based). Privacy policy

All transfers are conducted under appropriate safeguards in accordance with GDPR Chapter V.

7. Cookies

We use two types of cookies:

  • Essential cookies — required to keep you logged in and maintain your session. These are strictly necessary and cannot be declined.
  • Analytics cookies — anonymous page-view data used to understand traffic. You can decline these when the cookie banner appears.

8. Your rights (GDPR)

If you are in the EU or UK, you have the right to:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Rectification — request correction of inaccurate data
  • Erasure — request deletion of your account and associated data
  • Restriction — request that we limit how we process your data
  • Portability — request your data in a portable, machine-readable format
  • Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interests
  • Withdraw consent — you can withdraw consent at any time by deleting your account

To exercise any of these rights, email hello@persaura.com or use the account deletion option in your profile settings.

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority (e.g. the CNIL in France, the ICO in the UK, or the relevant DPA in your country).

9. Data retention

We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active. If you delete your account, we will delete your personal data within 30 days. Anonymised, aggregated analytics data may be retained for longer periods for product improvement purposes.

10. Children

PersAura is not intended for anyone under the age of 18. We do not knowingly collect data from minors. If you become aware that a minor has created an account, please contact us at hello@persaura.com and we will delete the account promptly.

11. Changes to this policy

If we make significant changes to this policy, we will notify you by email or via an in-app notice. Continued use of PersAura after changes take effect means you accept the updated policy.
